iPad2 Unveiled: Thinner, Lighter,Improved Performance And Same Price
Apple began the tablet era with the launch of iPad last year and got a great head start to lead the tablet world. Since than a number of manufacturers have been trying to catch up. Apple however doesn’t seem to be letting that happen as they are willing to be the only rulers of the tablet world. The launch of iPad2 is hardly revolutionary but it has once again taken Apple way ahead of the other manufactures.
Apple unveiled the second generation iPad 2 tablet at the launch event held at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco. Let’s review the upgrades Apple has come up with, one by one.
DESIGN:
Ipad2 looks nothing different than iPad from the front but when looked from the side the new device looks much thinner. It is said to be weighing mere 1.3 pounds and only 8.8mm thick making it 15 percent lighter and 33 percent thinner than its predecessor. It has retained the 9.7inch display and promises to be available in white color as well.
PROCESSOR:
With the tablet technology improving every day Apple was failing to compete with the latest android tablets. However the new 1Ghz dual core processor in iPad2 (dubbed A5) promises to boost the graphic performance nine times which really will boost the overall performance of the device.
CAMERAS:
As many of us expected Apple has slapped in a couple of cameras to the iPad2. A mega-pixel camera at the back panel capable of shooting 720p HD video and a front VGA camera for video calls.
AUDIO:
The Audio performance of the device has improved with the addition of two larger stereo speakers and a HDMI video-out for hooking the device with the TV.
BATTERY:
Thankfully Apple has manage to add this power without sacrificing any battery life, so no worries there as you can still have the same 10 hours and a month long stand by time.
OTHER ADDITIONS:
Like in iphone 4 a three Axis gyroscope along with an accelerometer a side switch for mute and rotation lock and a speak mesh at the back panel are the new additions in iPad2.
PRICE AND AVALIABILITY:
The new model will cost the same as the predecessor, starting at $499 for the 16GB Wifi model going up to $829 for the 64GB 3G+Wifi one. Ipad2 will be available in US from 11th March and 25th March onward in 26 other countries.
